Torch Club

The mission of the Boys and Girls Club of South Central Texas is “to enable all young people, especially those who need us most to realize their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.”

Torch Club was created in 1970 and is a program offered to both boys and girls between the ages 11 to 13 that are Junior High Club members.  This program is affiliated with the National Boys & Girls Club.

Torch Club tries to instill in each individual the ability to "cultivate good character and effective leadership skills." The goal of Torch Club is to have these children become caring and involved citizens, and the way they accomplish this is to develop activities that get these boys and girls to interact and participate in their community.

Torch Club helps implement activities in the following four ways: service to Club and community, education, health and fitness and social recreation.

Torch Club is “a powerful vehicle through which Club staff can help meet the special character development needs of younger adolescents at a critical stage in their development.”

Torch Club also offers activities that are fun for the kids, such as college tours, digital arts, DJ school, field trips, sports and recreation and video gaming.
